Nera World Communicator
The Nera World Communicator has been replaced by the
Nera WorldPro.
A limited number of used World Communicators may be available.
The Nera World Communicator (see specs) weighs only 4 kg and is about the size of a laptop computer when
folded up for
transport.
It offers 64,000 bps ISDN capability via a USB port, a 9-pin serial port, and
a RJ-45 ISDN (S/T type) port.
Coverage is available on most continental land masses (see map below).
Low cost 4.8 kbps quality voice, high quality 3.1 khz audio and
64 kbps data are supported.
The Nera World Communicator is ideal for users in the resource exploration and broadcast sectors
that require high resolution photo transfers, broadcast quality audio,
store-and-forward video transfer, or more conventional communications such
as voice and fax.
The Nera World Communicator with Tri-Fold Antenna is not recommended for permanent mount applications.
A permanent mount antenna is available for the World Communicator.
We suggest that you consider the Thrane & Thrane Capsat Messenger (Small Dish)
or EMS Storm if you need portability and the ability to mount the antenna
permanently.

Outfitter Customer Testimonial:
Outfitter satellite has been our satellite phone provider for the past 2 years (see
Extreme Environment). Last year we were able
to communicate with students back in the United States, send field journal updates and send daily photos from
the field in Bolivia where scientists were studying one of the highest lakes on Earth (19,600 feet). This
year, the folks at Outfitter Satellite provided us with 2 Nera world communicator sat phones and a Talking
Head videophone unit. Their assistance allowed the scientific team to again communicate with students not
only with field updates and photos, but for a live webcast as well. Through using the satellite phones and
videophone unit, students from a rural school in Northern California were able to talk personally with
scientists in the field and ask them questions about their expedition. This webcast changed many students that
day, and encouraged them to push their limits of knowledge. They observed real science as it was happening,
from thousands of miles away! To offer this type of learning experience would have never happened if it
weren’t for the folks at Outfitter Satellite. Because of their hard work and dedication, students around the
world participated in cutting edge science without leaving the safety of their classroom. Thank you!
